If you want to explore the surrounding area:
Take the 10 minute drive and cross the toll-free bridge to Campobello Island, New Brunswick, Canada
(photo ID required by Customs). On Campobello you will find the Roosevelt Summer Cottage; the 2,800-acre Roosevelt-Campobello International Park; the delightful 9-hole Herring Cove Golf Course and Herring
Cove Provincial Park. Be sure to also stop by Head Harbor, from which
you can go whale-watching in the Bay of Fundy. There are five trips a day to choose from! Keep your eyes open for finbacks, minke and perhaps even a humpback, as well as harbor seals, grey seals and bald
eagles nesting on nearby islands.
Or, you may prefer to take a car ferry to Deer Island, and enjoy a guided sea-kayaking experience before you go on to L'Etete, New Brunswick,
mainland Canada, to visit the Kingsbrae Garden, www.kingsbraegarden.com, a majestic 27
acre horticultural masterpiece in St. Andrews, just a short drive from L'Etete, and browse in the boutiques or lunch in one of the St. Croix riverside cafes or restaurants.
Another must-not-miss sightseeing trip, from late May through August only, is to take an early morning excursion from
Cutler harbor, a short 20 miles away. Join Cap'n Andy Patterson, www.boldcoast.com on his boat the Barbara Frost and enjoy the ride to
Machias Seal Island just 10 miles off-shore, to see thousands of Atlantic Puffins and Terns at their breeding ground. This is a photographic opportunity you will always remember! Take a picnic and water! It is a 4-6 hour trip!
